Taking your significant other out to dinner at a romantic restaurant may not be in the cards on a college student’s budget. But that does not mean you have to hang out in your dorm room again. Although Rhode Island is the smallest state, it is full of date locations that are quick and easy to get to that will not break the bank.

If you are bored on a Sunday afternoon, grab your boyfriend or girlfriend and head to the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) Art Museum, located on College Hill in Providence, where admission is FREE on Sundays.  Can’t make it on a Sunday? Your student ID gets you admission for only $5 any other day of the week.

The museum is currently showing an exhibit on the spectacle of the American and European circus. Visitors can also enjoy ancient Egyptian galleries, costume and textile galleries, modern and contemporary galleries and more.

Since holding hands in a museum is bound to make you hungry, walk about three minutes up the street and grab a bite to eat at Café Choklad, a cute and cozy café that serves delicious and moderately priced lunch food. After a chilly walk from the museum, you can warm up with a Wicked Hot Chocolate for a spicy twist (cayenne pepper!) on a seasonal favorite.

Great for the first date or the tenth, the colorful exhibits at the RISD museum will surely brighten up not only the dull winter day but also your romance.
