Everybody knows that the best part of living in Rhode Island is spending the

summer at the beach. If you’re an out-of-state student who will be returning home before experiencing a spectacular Rhode Island summer, or you just can’t wait for beach season to arrive, this date is for you.

Even if you’re not from Rhode Island, you’ve probably heard of Newport’s Cliff Walk. The Cliff Walk, which runs along the eastern shore of Newport, combines the natural beauty of birds, wildflowers and scenic views with some of the most elaborately designed houses of Newport’s Gilded Age. The walk is famous and one of the top attractions in Newport, with more than a quarter million people visiting each year.

The best part about doing the Cliff Walk is that it is an easy, FREE date with beautiful views that will put you in a romantic mood. Even if you’re not the most active couple, the walk is a short 3.5 miles and you don’t have to trek the whole distance.

If all that walking makes you hungry, take advantage of all the tasty eateries that downtown Newport has to offer.  Most are only five minutes away from the start of the Cliff Walk.

April and May are the best months to enjoy this romantic setting. As soon as summer vacation officially starts, you’ll be elbowing your way through crowds of tourists who might ruin your date!
