Sex and the Cigar: Your prostate and you

Women aren’t the only ones with g-spots, behind the pubic bone lies a chestnut sized gland that is sometimes commonly referred to as the ‘male g-spot.’

The prostate is a very important part of the male reproductive system. It is heavily involved with producing fluids that will eventually become semen. Not only is it involved with producing seminal fluid, it also uses its muscles to send ejaculate out.

The reason why the prostate is colloquially known as the male g-spot is because of its unique position in the body. It is located in front of the rectum, which means you can actually feel and stimulate the prostate yourself. In an interview with Askmen magazine, “Sexpert,” writer Coleen Singer described stimulating the prostate as, “an immensely empowering experience…the male g-spot is the forbidden fruit of a man’s erogenous zones.”

Not only does stimulating the prostate cause an intense orgasm, it can also help with the sexual experience as a whole. “Stimulating these spots not only feels terrific for a man, but also builds sexual tension throughout his entire body,” says Ian Kerner, PhD to Cosmopolitan magazine, “[It] increases blood flow to his genitals. This boosts his arousal and intensifies his pelvic contractions, magnifying his orgasm tenfold.”

Now the prostate is a great thing, but it also is a liability. Because of it’s location, if the prostate swells or enlarges it can stop you from being able to urinate and can lead to prostate cancer. Fortunately for us, the best way to keep your prostate healthy and happy is to actually use it.

A Harvard’s Health Professionals Follow-up Study looked at the ejaculation rate, lifestyle and cancer risks of 29,342 men between the ages of 46-81. As part of the study, they tracked the men from young adulthood to midlife to late life and recorded how many times they ejaculated each month. The men who ejaculated 21 times or more a month had a 33 percent lower risk of prostate cancer compared to men who ejaculate seven or less times per month.

In fact, the two biggest causes of prostate cancer is stress and inflammation. Stimulating the prostate can drain the prostate more fully, resulting in a more powerful orgasm. This will reduce the stress in a person’s life, and by draining the prostate you will reduce the inflammation.
