Police Beat: 9/21 to 9/26

Thursday, Sept. 21

At 12:23 a.m. a fire alarm went off at the Phi Gamma Delta (Fiji) house located on West Alumni Avenue. No medical assistance was required.

 

4:24 p.m. a medical emergency in Garrahy Hall on Flagg Road. Transportation to hospital was rendered.

 

11:48 p.m. another medical emergency this time in Hillside on Campus Avenue. Transportation to hospital was also rendered.

 

Friday, Sept. 22

8:06 p.m. police arrived at Wiley Hall on Flagg Road in concern to reports of harassment. A report was filed.

 

8:14 p.m. police were notified of a drug offense in Fayerweather Hall on Complex Road.

 

10:20 p.m. another drug offense occurred in Gorham Hall on Complex Road. Police then investigated.

 

11:13 p.m. a third drug offense of the night occurred in Ellery Hall on Complex Road.

 

Saturday, Sept. 23

6:28 a.m. police were notified of a domestic disturbance in Coddington Hall on Butterfield Rd. The perpetrators were gone on arrival.

 

Sunday, Sept. 24

2:43 p.m. residents in Ellery Hall notified police of wafting fumes of gas in the dorm located on Complex Road.

 

Monday, Sept. 25

1:54 p.m. a motor vehicle stop resulting in an arrest. Colleen Smith, 33-years-old from North Kingstown, drove along Bills Road (next to the faculty entrance to the Fine Arts Lot) when she decided to purposefully attempt to drive a pedestrian over with her car. Upon arrival, URI police arrested Smith. She was charged with reckless driving, resisting arrest, drag racing, eluding police (first offense) and felony assault with a dangerous weapon (the car).

 

Tuesday, Sept. 26

12:34 p.m. police arrived at Tyler Hall on Greenhouse Road to an animal complaint. Upon arrival it was found that the “animal” was gone. No further action was required.

3:14 p.m. Police were notified of an individual trespassing in Hillside Hall on Campus Avenue. A report was filed upon arrival.

 

11:10 p.m. Students notified police of suspicious activity happening at the rear of Kappa Delta sorority house. When police arrived, it was found that the suspicious persons were gone.
