What can your student ID do for you?

Ask not what you can do for your student ID, but what your student ID can do for you. Your student ID is one of the most valuable things that you carry with you at all time while on campus. You know that it can get you into the dining halls, swipe you into the dorms and verify your identity when you take exams. What you might not know is that your ID can also get you a whole bunch of other perks on campus. Below is a list of things that your student ID can get you here at URI.

Tootell Aquatic Center
During the academic year, URI students are admitted to swim in the pools free of charge by presenting a current valid student ID card. The Tootell Aquatic Center is open Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Saturdays 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sundays 12:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Nutritionist

Students have the option to meet with a nutritionist at health services. The cost of the nutritionist is covered in the cost of tuition but health insurance, as required by the university, is needed to make an appointment. A nutritionist can help students with a wide range of issues they may face while living away from home for the first time. These include energy, vegetarian diets, sports nutrition and eating disorders. To make an appointment call 401-874-5954.

Mackal Field House Recreational Equipment

With your student ID you can go to the Campus Rec desk in Mackal Field House and check out a variety of recreational equipment that you can use. Equipment that can be checked out includes badminton nets, basketballs, volleyballs, softball bats, soccer balls, footballs and jump ropes.

Mackal Cardio Room

Most students know about the Anna Fascitelli Fitness and Wellness Center across from Hope Dining Commons. What most students don’t know about is the cardio room in Mackal Field house that can be accessed using your student ID at the Campus Rec desk in Mackal.. The room features new top of the line cardiovascular equipment including 8 Precor treadmills, 10 Precor ellipticals (5 with arms), 3 adaptive motion trainers, 5 ARC trainers, 14 recumbent/ upright bikes, 1 Sci-Fit Upperbody Ergometer, 4 Concept II rowers Model D and 2 stairmasters. The cardio room is open Monday – Thursday 6:30 a.m. – 9:30 p.m., Fridays 6:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., Saturdays 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Sundays 1:00 – 9:30 p.m.

URI Sporting Events
Your student ID can get you into a variety of sporting events on campus for free including football, basketball, soccer, baseball and volleyball. A valid URI student ID can also get you discounted admission to other sporting events on campus such as men’s and women’s ice hockey.

Boss Ice Arena

At the Boss Ice Arena with your student ID you can go to public skate for just $3. Public Skate is Tuesday thru Friday 11a.m. to 12:50 p.m. and Saturdays 1 p.m. to 2:50 p.m.

RIPTA Bus Passes

With your student ID you can purchase discounted RIPTA bus passes at the information desk. 10 ride passes cost $10.00 (limit of 3 can be purchased per month, per URI ID), monthly passes for unlimited rides cost $35.00 (limit one pass, per URI ID).
