Police Beat 3/7 – 3/20

March 7, 2018

At 5:31 a.m., university police responded to a medical emergency at Eddy Hall. A student was transported to the hospital.

At 12:35 p.m., a driver was pulled over after failing to stop at a stop sign on Upper College Road. The operator of the motor vehicle was charged for driving on a suspended license and was also in possession of less than 1 oz. of marijuana.

At 6:24 p.m., officers responded to a minor motor vehicle accident on Flagg Road by the Bupre loading dock. A driver mistakenly backed into a parked vehicle. There were no injuries. A report was filed.

At 6:28 p.m., a student in Bressler Hall reported a complaint against an online scam. After applying for a job, the “employer” replied with emails asked for personal banking account information.

At 9:35 p.m., a RA found marijuana during room checks in Hutchinson Hall. A report was filed, but the incident is being handled through Student Conduct.

At 10:33 p.m., a RA found marijuana during room checks in Hillside Hall. A report was filed,  but the incident is being handled through Student Conduct.

At 11:30 p.m., officers responded to another medical emergency in Eddy Hall. A student was transported to the hospital.

 

March 8, 2018

At 11:32 p.m., officers responded to medical emergency at Garrahy Hall. A student was transported to the hospital.

 

March 9, 2018

At 3:02 a.m., police were notified of a suspicious person in the Keaney Parking Lot on Flagg Road, but found no one at the scene.

At 7:11 a.m., officers responded to a disturbance complaint at Roosevelt Hall on Upper College Road. Peace was restored.

At 9:40 p.m., police responded to a medical emergency at Hillside Hall. A student was transported to the hospital.

At 11:50 a.m., another medical emergency occurred at Butterfield Hall. Transportation to the hospital was needed.

At 1:14 p.m., RAs in Bressler Hall found a bong during a fire inspection. A report was filed, but  the incident is being handled through Student Conduct.

At 2:03 p.m., officers responded to drug offenses in Heathman Hall after RAs found drug paraphernalia. A report was filed, but the incident is being handled through Student Conduct.

 

March 10, 2018

At 1:17 p.m., police responded to a disturbance call at Burnside Hall. A student and her boyfriend were in a loud verbal argument. The boyfriend was reportedly banging on her door and refused to leave despite her request. Police escorted the individual off campus, and he is now trespassed from URI.

 

March 13, 2018

At 6:23 a.m., police responded to a medical emergency at Sherman Hall after a URI employee slipped on ice. The injuries were reportedly non-life threatening

 

March 15, 2018

At 6:46 p.m., vehicle vandalization was reported in Keany Parking Lot South. A student returned to their car to find damage to the front end of the vehicle. The headlight and driver side bumper had been dented

At 9:22 p.m., sex offenses were reported at the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity house on Old North Road. The case is currently under investigation. All details and files are sealed.

 

March 16, 2018

At 10:10 a.m., a driver was pulled over for speeding on Plains Road. The operator of the motor vehicle was charged for driving on a suspended license. It was his third offense.

At 10:44 p.m., police responded to complaints of suspicious activity at the Alpha Chi Omega house. Assistance was rendered.

 

March 18, 2018

At 1:08 a.m., police were notified of suspicious activity at the EMS Building, but found no such activity at the scene upon arrival.

 

March 19, 2018

At 5 p.m., a vehicle was pulled over on Upper College Road near Swan Hall for having an expired registration sticker. The vehicle was towed.

At 9:43 p.m., officers responded to a larceny offense at Barlow Hall. A student accused their roommate of stealing some of the possessions. The incident is currently under investigation.

 

March 20, 2018

At 12:53 a.m., noise complaints were made against Hillside Hall, but were found to be unfounded. No action was taken.
