The University of Rhode Island announced Monday the launching of the new academic health collaborative where a new college of health sciences will join the colleges of nursing and pharmacy. The idea of the collaborative is to make students studying all areas of health, familiar with each other’s majors. Dean of URI’s College of Pharmacy, Paul Larrat, will be the first Coordinating Dean of the Executive Committee of the Health Collaborative. The Rhode Island Department of Health will also be playing a big role in the collaboration. Larrat said that the goal of this entire development is that students attend their first day on the job, “health team ready.â€
