After a ruling in United States District Court, Brown University must permit a student expelled for sexual misconduct back into the university. The student, anonymously referred to as John Doe, brought a suit against the university after finding him responsible under a policy based on Title IX and not the university student code of conduct. Until a new hearing is held based on the contractual conduct rules, Federal Judge William E. Smith has issued an injunction to allow Doe to return to school, citing university’s breach of contract and the potential for “irreparable harm” if Doe is not allowed to return.

The unsettling phenomenon of clown sightings is spreading, and on Monday night official reports said that it has now spread to New England. In recent days, reports of individuals dressed in frightening clown costumes have surfaced across the country. The issue has caused a buzz both on social media and on news outlets, locally and nationally. Two New England colleges, the University of New Hampshire and Merrimack College in Massachusetts, both dealt with reports of clown sightings Monday night. However, police at both campuses were unable to find either of the individuals after responding to the scenes.

The Trump foundation has been ordered to cease and desist all fundraising in the state of New York, following a notice from Attorney General Eric Schneiderman. The charity, founded by Donald Trump, has drawn attention from the attorney general’s office after failing to properly register the charity in the state, and to provide certain financial documents in order to be legally able to solicit donations from the public.

Late Monday night, celebrity Kim Kardashian West was reportedly robbed at gunpoint of approximately $9 million in jewelry while in Paris, France. According to statements from Paris Police, West was robbed in her hotel room by a group of about five men after being tied up with tape and locked in a bathroom. West was not physically harmed, but she was alone in the hotel room at the time of the incident. Later on Monday night, West returned to New York.

The United States has officially suspended all negotiations with Russia over the Syrian conflict. After months of continuous talks and a failed, short-lived ceasefire in Syria, the United States has decided to bring the bilateral negotiations to an end. According to White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest, the nation’s “patience with Russia has run out.”

Voters in Colombia have rejected the peace deal reached last week between the Colombian Government and left-wing rebel group, FARC, by a margin of just 0.2 percent. The deal had already been signed by Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos and Timoleon Jimenez, the leader of FARC. Despite the popular rejection of the formal treaty, the ceasefire between the two forces will continue until an agreement is reached.
