It looks like the University of Rhode Island got the bag, flipped it and tumbled it because on Sept. 14, the Ryan Center will be welcoming hip-hop rap group Migos. The concert is being hosted by the Student Entertainment Committee. Migos is just another addition to the list of notable hip-hop giants to perform at URI.
A little background on Migos: the group consists of 3 members– Quavo (Quavious Marshall), Offset (Kairi Kendrell Cephus) and Takeoff (Kirshnik Khari Ball). All three members of Migos are related by blood. Members Quavo and Offset are cousins and Takeoff is Quavo’s nephew. Migos has been tearing up the hip-hop scene over the past two years.
With the release of their second studio album, “Culture,” the hip-hop mainstream sensation is captivating fans everywhere. Migos has been pretty busy considering they just finished a tour overseas performing in places such as the U.K. and Belgium. They also just finished up shows in Philadelphia and Atlanta, where they are originally from. With hit singles such as “Slippery” (feat. Gucci Mane), “I Get The Bag,” “Bad and Boujee” (feat. Lil Uzi Vert), “T-Shirt,” and “Get Right Witcha,” it’s hard to find anyone who hasn’t heard a Migos song, considering all these songs have gone at least gold or higher in the charts. Their second studio album, “Culture,” went platinum after selling over 1 million copies.
This concert kicks off the 2017 school year with a bang. Tickets are still available so don’t miss out on Migos taking over the Ryan Center this Thursday., Sept. 14.
