On Oct. 28, The University of Rhode Island Musicians’ Guild held their second concert of the semester in Atrium one inside the Memorial Union. Three bands performed: Superposition, a band made up of members of the Musicians’ Guild, Pomegranate Tea and Olde Pine, a Worcester based group. The night also featured a costume contest.
Superposition played mostly original tracks, but included a cover of “Shake It” by Metro Station.
While most people showed up in costume, the heat in the Atrium became overwhelming, causing many people to layer down or step outside throughout the night.
The Musicians’ Guild set up colorful lighting for all three bands to perform under before the show, but each band chose their own background videos. Superposition chose to play in front of a video of the popular game “Five Nights at Freddy’s,” while Pomegranate Tea chose “Super Mario Bros.” and Olde Pine performed in front of a movie.
“Pomegranate Tea” chose the members of the pop-punk group Green Day for their costumes. Because of this, they chose to cover “Welcome to Paradise” during their set.
According to multiple Musicians’ Guild members, the show had one of the largest crowds of any concert hosted by the Musicians’ Guild. As such, the night was filled with moshing, crowd surfing and general excitement throughout.
