Women’s Soccer
FINAL (10/12): URI 2-1 St. Bonaventure
FINAL (10/15): URI 0-5 Saint Louis
The Rams increased their unbeaten streak to five games with a 2-1 win against St. Bonaventure. That streak was snapped after a crushing 5-0 loss at home to conference leader Saint Louis. For more on the games, see Ryan Pellilo’s recap (rhodycigar.com).
Men’s Soccer
FINAL (10/14): URI 1-3 VCU
FINAL (10/17): URI 0-0 Brown
The Rams lost against fellow Atlantic 10 opponent VCU and tied this week against in-state rival Brown. The Rams have two more games against in-conference opponents and must win both of them to clinch a spot in the A-10 playoffs. For more on the games, see Aidan Garvey’s recap (rhodycigar.com).
Volleyball
FINAL (10/14): URI 0-3 VCU
FINAL (10/15): URI 2-3 VCU
The Rams dropped both games against fellow A-10 opponent VCU as they were swept in the first match. The Rams rallied back from a 2-0 set deficit in the second match but ultimately fell short. For more, see Zack Petrick’s recap (page 8, rhodycigar.com).
Women’s Tennis
Brown Classic
The Rams wrapped up their fall season at the Brown Classic. On the first day of play the Rams fell 4-3 to UConn at URI Tennis Complex. The Rams then played against three different schools at Brown’s tennis complex. They lost 7-0 against Boston University on Saturday, 6-1 against Villanova and 3-1 against UMass on Sunday. Swim and Dive
FINAL (10/14): URI 167.5-132.5 Sienna
The Rams swim and dive team opened up their season with a win against Sienna. The Rams won nine out of the 16 individual events including sweeping the 1000-yard freestyle. Second-year Maddie Tetreault helped the Rams win the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:53.58 and the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:12.14. Second-year Hannah Benavides won the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:06.55 in the 100 and beat her opponent by 2.15 seconds in the 200. The Rams will face Springfield College and Coast Guard in a tri-meet on Oct. 28 at 12 p.m.
Golf
Sacred Heart Fall Classic at Great River – 2nd of 10
The Rams finished in second place out of 10 teams with a team score of +6. They finished runner up to the hosts of the event, Sacred Heart, who finished with a +1 team score. For more, see David Okula’s recap (rhodycigar.com).
