Sabrina Carpenter has been all over the Billboard Top 100 charts with nine out of her 12 songs on her newest album “Short n’ Sweet” included in the chart as of Thursday, Sept. 26.
The album was released on Aug. 23. The three top songs when the nine songs first hit the charts were “Please Please Please” at No. 1, “Taste” at No. 2 and “Espresso” at No. 3.
Carpenter started out as an actress, with her first acting role as a featured guest in “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.” She is well known for playing Maya Hart from the TV show “Girl Meets World” (2014-2017). Carpenter also starred in movies as Harper Kreyman in both the first “Tall Girl” (2019) and the sequel (2022), “The Hate You Give” (2018) as Hailey and “The Adventures in Babysitting” (2016) as Jenny Parker. Additionally, she’s had one Broadway role as Cady Heron on “Mean Girls The Musical” in 2020. During that time, she only got to do two performances because the show was canceled when the COVID-19 pandemic hit.
Carpenter turned to music in 2014 with her debut single in “Can’t Blame a Girl for Trying” released on April 8, 2014 . It was originally recorded by co-writer Meghan Trainor then given to Carpenter for her first album “Eyes Wide Open.”
Now, she has released six albums. The most notable being “Emails I Can’t Send” (2022) and “Short n’ Sweet” (2024).
Carpenter has collaborated with other artists, such as girl in red in the song “You Need Me Now?” The singer, girl in red, talked about the collaboration on “The Zach Sang Show.”
“The bridge in ‘[You Need Me Now?],’ I thought it would be a fun way to introduce my first ever feature because I’ve never done a feature before,” girl in red said.
Another song is “That’s Not How This Works,” with Dan + Shay and Charlie Puth. The song was originally written with and featured Dan + Shay in April 2020 and released on March 31, 2023. Then, another version of the song and music video was released on April 14, 2023 featuring Carpenter.
“Sabrina is a great actress as she is an artist,” Puth said in an interview with Most Requested Live. “I don’t consider myself an actor but she brought something cool out of me.”
In 2017, Carpenter opened for Ariana Grande’s Dangerous Woman Tour and Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in both 2023 and 2024.
For both her music and acting, Carpenter has won four awards: one Kids Choice award for Favorite Viral Song for “Espresso,” one Joey Award in 2024, a Best Young Ensemble Feature Film in 2015 for the movie “Horns,” a Video Music Award for Song of the Year “Espresso” in 2024 and one Gold Derby Award for Best New Artist.
On Dec. 6, Carpenter will be releasing a Netflix holiday special called “A Nonsense Christmas with Sabrina Carpenter.” It will feature her with various special guests including duets and performances with comedians, according to Rayo Magazine .
Carpenter is currently on her Short n’ Sweet Tour which started on Sept. 23 in Columbus, Ohio.
