Second-year forward Lauren MacDonald scored the lone goal in the 52nd minute and first-year goalkeeper Chelsea Mohammed had a career-high eight saves in URI’s win against Loyola Chicago. On Sunday, Davidson first-year midfielder Sophia Whiddon scored the first goal of the game in the 17th minute. In the 24th minute, third-year forward Dakota Lyons scored the second goal for Davidson, completing a 2-0 win that ended the Rams’ postseason hopes. Women’s Volleyball
FINAL (10/24): URI 3-1 Saint Louis University
FINAL (10/25): St. Louis University 3-2 URI
FINAL (10/28): Fordham University 3-0 URI
In the first set of Thursday’s match, the Rams beat St. Louis 27-25. St. Louis responded by winning the second set 25-22, but Rhode Island won the final two sets, 25-23 and 25-21, to secure the 3-1 win. Second-year middle blocker Megan Disu had a career-high 14 kills during the match and third-year right side hitter Aerin Bowman led URI with 15 kills. In the second match against URI, St. Louis won the first set 25-15. Rhode Island then tied the match with a 25-20 win in the second set. URI then gained a 2-1 set lead with a 26-24 win in the third. Both teams remained tied for a while until first-year middle blocker Havyn Rolle and third-year outside hitter Emma Vente helped secure a URI victory. Fordham shutout URI in the Rams’ next match. Atlantic 10 Masters Qualifier – Davidson, North Carolina (10/25-10-26)
URI Fall Invite – Kingston, Rhode Island (10/26-10/27)
At the A-10 masters qualifier, first-year Katharina Spieth won against second-year Tania Isabel Andrade Sabando of Virginia Commonwealth University in the opening round en route to a semifinal appearance. Third-year Sophie Herrman defeated St. Bonaventure University in the opening round, but lost to UMass in the round of 16. In the doubles matchup, VCU defeated Rhode Island. Spieth won against Davidson in the quarterfinals, but eventually lost to Richmond University in the semifinals and in doubles consolation to UMass. FINAL (10/26): URI 24-14 University of Maine
In the first quarter, Maine’s fifth-year tight end Cooper Heisey caught a seven-yard touchdown with less than a minute left to take an early lead. Rhode Island second-year quarterback Devin Farrell responded by scoring two rushing touchdowns in the second quarter to give URI the lead. In the fourth quarter, Maine’s third-year running back Brian Santana-Fis scored a touchdown on a four-yard run, tying the game. Then, fifth-year running back Malik Grant scored on a one-yard touchdown run. Rhode Island finished the game with second-year player Ty Groff kicking a 35-yard field goal. Men’s Soccer
FINAL (10/26): St. Joseph’s University 3-2 URI
FINAL (10/29): Brown University 2-1 URI
St. Joseph’s second-year forward Patrick Vani scored the first goal in the 10th minute. Later on, third-year URI forward Íñigo Etxegarai helped bring Rhode Island to a tie game in the 23rd minute. Afterwards, fifth-year Campbell McIntyre scored in the 28th minute. Then, third-year midfielder Keegan Walker scored in the 58th minute and to close out Rhody’s scoring, before fifth-year forward Tommaso Rossetto netted the final goal of the game in the 87th minute to win the game for the Hawks. In the next matchup against Brown, second-year forward Lorenzo Amaral scored the first goal in the seventh minute of the game. Not long after, URI fourth-year forward Isak Oystese took a penalty kick, scoring the equalizer in the 16th minute. Amaral scored the final goal of the game in the 47th minute, securing Brown’s 2-1 win. Rhode Island returns to the URI soccer complex to play against Davidson on Nov. 2. in its season finale.

FINAL (10/26) Ledgemont Match Play – 1st of 4
FINAL (10/28-10/29) Metropolitan Collegiate – 1st of 11
On the first day, third-year Aidan O’Donovan had seven birdies for a three-under par. First-year Luke Stennett had an even par 70, which tied him for second place. Fifth-year Sean Magarian placed in fourth, followed by first-year Tyler Bruneau, who placed seventh place for a three-over par on the day. On the second day, O’Donovan shot a plus-three on the day and was placed in second. Behind him was Magarian, who tied for third place finishing the tournament with a plus-six. Stennett and second-year Tony Liu had a shot of plus-seventh and tied in fifth place. Bruneau finished in 16th with a score of plus-11, and second-year Seb Carlsson was ranked 35th with a plus-16.
