The University of Rhode Island Police were kept busy over Halloween weekend, with an abnormal number of arrests and violations from Thursday through Sunday.
Five alcohol violations occurred on campus this week, the most of any week this semester, resulting in five arrests. The first occurred on Thursday, Oct. 31 on Butterfield Road, where an 18-year-old was charged with alcohol possession. Another four arrests were made the following night on Friday at Fraternity Circle, where three 18-year-olds and one 17-year-old were also charged with alcohol possession.
Another arrest was made on Friday after a disturbance occurred on Plains Road and West Alumni Ave. The arrest was later expunged. Officers first arrived on the scene at 10:37 p.m. and cleared the scene roughly an hour later at 11:31 p.m.
On top of arrests, there were also 22 medical emergencies throughout the week. 10 emergencies occurred between Thursday and Saturday, and five occurred on Friday alone. All of the emergencies resulted in transportation to the hospital.
As the week came to a close, two drug offenses also occurred, the first on Friday on Complex Road and the second on Sunday on Campus Ave. Neither offense resulted in an arrest, however both required a filed report.
