Men’s Basketball

FInal (2/5): Fordham University 80-79 University of Rhode Island

On Wednesday, Rhode Island faced off against Fordham University. Despite being down 15 points in the first half, Rhode Island was able to fight back to take a lead in the second half. Unfortunately for Rhode Island they were unable to hold that lead. They dropped to 15-7 and 4-6 in Atlantic 10 Conference play. They play next on Saturday at George Mason University. Women’s Basketball

Final (2/2): University of Richmond 79-56 URI

Final (2/5): URI 59-57 Duquesne University 

On Sunday, the Rams faced off against the first-place Spiders. The Rams struggled early, digging themselves a 17-9 hole. The Rams were unable to climb out of the hole and had their three-game win streak snapped. On Wednesday, the Rams faced off against Duquesne where they won a nail-biter. Second-year Sophia Vital led the Rams with 20 points. The Rams improved to 12-12 and 7-4 in A-10 play, and are back in action on Saturday against the University of Dayton at the Ryan Center. Men’s Track and Field 

BU John Thomas Terrier Classic (2/1)

On Saturday, six members of the Rams went to Boston to compete in the BU John Thomas Terrier Classic. In the meet, fourth-year Jarrett Young finished sixth in the 400-meter with a time of 48.07 seconds. The Rams had four competitors in the mile; fifth-year Joe DosRies finished 52nd, first-year Maddox Jordan finished 75th, first-year Antonio Capalbo finished 84th and second-year Owen Fleischer finished 137th. Women’s Track and Field 

BU John Thomas Terrier Classic (1/31)

Harvard Invitational (2/1)

On Friday, the women’s track and field team traveled to Boston to compete in the BU John Thomas Terrier classic and broke three records. Third-year sprinter Odette Van Wyk broke a 20-year school record in the 200-meter and third-year Lily Saul broke a five-year school record in the 800-meter. Another notable finish came from first-year Macy Daigle, who cleared 5’7” to finish second in the high jump. On Saturday, the women’s track and field team traveled to Harvard University to compete in the Harvard invitational. Fifth-year Megan Wood had the top performance for the Rams, finishing third in the Championship Shotput with a 45’1” toss. The Rams will host the URI Coaches Invitational on Saturday. Women’s Tennis 

FInal (2/1): URI 6-1 Fairfield University

Final (2/2): URI 6-0 Nichols College 

The Rams took on Fairfield at the International Tennis Hall of Fame on Saturday. The Rams stayed hot in dominant fashion as they won 6-1. Third-year Nikki Fernando, first-year Grace Darcy, first-year Anastasia Pettersson and fourth-year Klara Nelander all won their matches. On Sunday, the Rams took on Nichols, where the Rams continued their success by sweeping the Bison. Third-year Sophie Herrman contributed two team points without giving up a game. The Rams have won four in a row and are back in action on Saturday against Quinnipiac University at the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
