Men’s Basketball

Final (3/1): University of Massachusetts 91-88 University of Rhode Island

Final (3/5): Saint Joseph’s University 91-74 URI

Rhody lost both games of a two-game road trip and are left with one game remaining on the schedule before the Atlantic 10 Tournament in Washington, D.C. next week. Fourth-year David Green’s 28 points and eight three-pointers made were not enough to get them over the hump against UMass on Saturday. Women’s Basketball

Final (3/1): George Washington University 54-46 URI

The URI women’s basketball team struggled offensively throughout its only matchup this week, shooting a season-low 27.7% from the field. This, in addition to shooting just 15.4% from long range and 54.5% from the free throw line, allowed GW to come into the Ryan Center and win the low-scoring affair. Third-year forward Anaelle Dutat paced the Rams with 17 points and 12 rebounds to earn her third straight double-double. For more, visit Abby LePage’s recap.

Baseball

Final (3/4): Sacred Heart University 5-4 URI

The URI baseball team took the first of a four-game series from New Mexico before dropping the final three games. The Rams then fell just short to Sacred Heart in their home opener on Tuesday. Fourth-year Anthony DePino was named Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week for his performance in the weekend series against New Mexico, where he hit six home runs with a .400 batting average. Softball

Final (2/28): URI 7-6 Presbyterian College

Final (2/28): Western Carolina University 3-0 URI

Final (3/1): North Carolina A&T 7-3 URI

Final (3/1): Western Carolina 13-1 URI

Final (3/2): Presbyterian College 11-1 URI

The URI softball team headed to Cullowhee, North Carolina for the Catamount Classic this past weekend. A nine-hit effort in the first game powered its comeback victory over Presbyterian on Friday. The weekend was highlighted by third-year Ashley Hibbard’s complete game in the first contest against Western Carolina, as well as first-year Katie Knarr going 7-16 at the plate across the five-game set. Women’s Lacrosse

Final (3/1): URI 14-7 Fairleigh Dickinson University

Final (3/5): URI 18-5 Stonehill College

URI women’s lacrosse won both games of its road trip by a combined score of 32-12. Second-year Danielle McHugh scored seven goals across the two contests, and second-year Caralie Basuel scored six to raise her team-leading total to 19 for the season. For more, visit Emma Roberts’ article.

Men’s Track and Field

Atlantic 10 Championship (2/28-3/1): First of 11 teams

The Rams took home their fifth straight A-10 Championship at the Virginia Beach Sports Center on Saturday. They were helped, in large part, by fifth-year Matt Santy’s second straight gold medal in the high jump, as well as his first place finish in the long jump. In addition, fourth-year Jarrett Young won the 400-meter while setting a new meet record with a time of 47.33. For more, visit Justin Theriault’s article.

Women’s Track and Field

Atlantic 10 Championship (2/28-3/1): Fifth of 14 teams

The URI women’s track and field team finished fifth at the Atlantic 10 Championship, its highest placing since 2019-20 when it finished third. Third-year Lily Saul delivered a standout performance, winning gold in both the mile and 1000-meter, which earned her Track Performer of the Meet. In Saul’s A-10 Championship mile debut, she set a meet record with a personal best time of 4:43.23. For more, visit Tyler Pinheiro’s article.

Women’s Tennis

Final (3/1): URI 7-0 Providence College

Final (3/2): Brown University 5-2 URI
