The Rams extended their winning streak to eight games with a sweep over Atlantic 10 Conference opponent VCU over the weekend and a win on Wednesday over Stonehill. The series against VCU was Rhody’s first A-10 matchup of the season with conference play starting up. Fourth-years Anthony DePino and Eric Genther hit back-to-back home runs in the third inning of Friday’s game to give Rhody an early 2-0 lead. For more, read Charlie Adams’ recap.
Softball

Final (3/15): George Mason 4-0 URI
The Rams competed in their first A-10 series of the season against George Mason, dropping two out of three games. The teams split Friday’s doubleheader with URI fumbling a 3-2 fourth inning lead in the first game and George Mason blowing a 5-1 lead in the sixth in the second game. Third-year Kylie Bulinski hit a three-run home run in the top of the seventh in the first game to help Rhody try and reclaim their lead, but the damage was already done as Rhody lost 8-6. Second-year Avery Vale-Cruz got the win in the second game after allowing one run in the final six innings to help Rhody mount their comeback. The Rams put together a four-run rally in the seventh inning of the second game to send it to extra innings, where they would score two runs in the 10th to pull out the 7-5 win. George Mason’s second-year pitcher Kylie Wilkerson pitched a complete game shutout on Saturday and held the Rams to three hits, as George Mason won 4-0 and clinched the series win. Rhody continued their winning ways as they traveled to Louisiana on Thursday, March 13 and Friday for their last matchups before A-10 play starts on Saturday. The Privateers were undermanned for Thursday’s matchup, as they had to forfeit two matches, which gave Rhody an early lead. Windy and rainy conditions on Friday led to play ending early, but Rhody was still able to secure the 4-0 victory over Nicholls State. First-years Grace Darcy and Anastasia Pettersson, along with second-year Ava Grnja, all won their singles matchups in straight sets. For more, read Abby LePage’s recap.
Women’s Lacrosse
Final (3/15): St. Bonaventure University 22-10 URI
The Rams headed back to Meade Stadium after a four-game road trip for their first home A-10 game in program history. The Rams and Bonnies competed in a back-and-forth first quarter with URI leading 4-3 with 4:18 left in the quarter. The Bonnies went on to score six straight goals and went on a 9-1 run, taking a 12-5 lead going into the break. Rhody tried to make a comeback, scoring two of the first three goals of the third quarter, and pulled within six. The Bonnies would go on another run, this time 9-3, to come out with a 22-10 victory.
