On March 16, two arrests were made at Browning Hall at 11:20 p.m. 18-year old Evan Paul Chant and 19-year old Larry Yin were taken into custody and handed over to the Narragansett Police Department.
Both suspects had warrants out for their arrests for previous shoplifting charges.
Two drug offenses were reported, one was at Butterfield Hall on Monday, March 17. Two students were found in possession of glass pipe with marijuana residue and a 1 liter bottle of tequila.
The other drug offense was at Eddy Hall on Sunday, March 23, where one suspect, a 20-year old student, was taken into custody. Drug paraphernalia was found in both dormitory halls.
There were four motor vehicle accidents reported this week.
One hit-and-run accident occurred on Friday, March 21 at the Potter Building. The offender left a note on the windshield of the damaged car and communication was made between both parties. Minimal damages have been reported and no injuries. An accident report was filed and the case is under investigation.
There were two cases of suspicious activity reported this week; one incident occurred on Sunday, March 19 and police couldn’t find the suspicious activity reported.
The other suspicious activity report occurred Tuesday, March 18. The case was reported by a female student at Hillside Residence Hall. The report was filed after a male suspect reportedly knocked on the student’s door claiming to be homeless.
There were 16 medical emergencies reported on campus this week, 11 of which required the patient to be transported to the hospital.
On Friday, March 21, a male student was transported to the hospital due to a leg injury in the Newman Hall parking lot. The patient arrived at the hospital by 10:45 a.m.
On Monday, March 17, a female student was transported to the hospital for possible food poisoning from Gorham Hall. The patient arrived at the hospital by 2:31 a.m.
