After dropping the first game of a Friday doubleheader to open the series, the Rams offense exploded for 20 runs in the second game to get back into the win column. Fourth-year southpaw Trystan Levesque provided URI with a quality start, going six innings and only giving up one run. Fourth-year third baseman Anthony DePino led the offensive explosion with six RBIs and became the first URI player to hit for the cycle since Don Rhualt in 2008. On Sunday, Rhody rallied back from a 7-0 deficit to come away with a 12-9 victory. URI scored double-digit runs for the third game in a row as it got a midweek win over Quinnipiac. In the series opener, URI held onto a 4-0 lead through four innings of play. A pair of errors and a wild pitch allowed the Hawks to score three runs and make it a one-run game. After three consecutive walks to begin the top of the sixth inning, Saint Joseph’s took its first lead of the game. In the bottom of the seventh inning, third-year catcher Kylie Bulinski delivered a two-run single to tie the game at seven. Fourth-year Sierra Fertz hit one over the fence to give the Hawks a one-run lead in the ninth. URI threatened in the bottom half, but left the bases loaded to end the game. In the second game of the doubleheader, third-year Ashley Hibbard was lights out for URI, throwing five shutout innings while only allowing two hits, as Rhody went on to earn a 6-2 win. In the series finale on Sunday, a nine-run first inning led the Hawks to a 14-1 win. The Rhody bats were silenced for all 12 innings of action against Brown on Wednesday, getting swept in the doubleheader. For more, read Michael Petraske’s article.

Saint Joseph’s Invitational (4/5)
URI’s Varsity 8+ and Second Varsity 8+ boats both came in first place in the finals. The Varsity 8+ team finished with a time of 6:57.6 to win their final, and the Second Varsity 8+ won with a time of 7:15.9. For more, read Carlos Pinto’s article.
Men’s Track and Field
Ocean State Cup (4/4): First of seven teams
URI competed against Brown University, Bryant University, Providence College and Rhode Island College in the Ocean State Cup on Friday. Second-year Nick Martin broke the URI record for the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:01.18. Second-year Alex Arbogast placed first overall and set a personal record in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.54 seconds. The men’s team accumulated 175 points in Rhode Island’s efforts to win the Ocean State Cup. For more, visit Justin Theirault’s article.
Women’s Track and Field
Ocean State Cup (4/4): First of seven teams
Fifth-year Megan Wood took home victories in both the shot put and discus. Third-year Odette van Wyk also had a pair of first-place finishes in the 100-meter with her time of 12.06, and ran a 24.52 to win the 200-meter. The women’s team contributed 231 points, along with the men’s team’s 175 points, to win the Ocean State Cup. For more, read Chase Abrams’ article.

Dragon Match Play Invitational: First of eight teams
First-years Tyler Bruneau and Luke Stennett gave the Rams a 2-0 lead in the Rams’ championship match against Longwood University. Third-year Aidan O’Donovan clinched the 3.5-1.5 win for the team’s fifth victory of the year. For more, read David Okula’s article.
Women’s Lacrosse
FINAL (4/4): Saint Joseph’s 16-9 URI
FINAL (4/9): URI 18-12 La Salle University
URI fell to Saint Joseph’s on Friday to drop to 5-7 on the season and 1-5 in A-10 play. The Hawks offense was too much for the Rams to handle, as they scored at least two goals in every quarter of the game. However, Rhode Island earned its second A-10 win of the season against La Salle on Wednesday. After a high-scoring first quarter, URI had a 9-5 lead and was able to hold on to get an 18-12 win.
