Twenty medical emergencies occurred on campus in the past week – the second most of any week in the semester, behind the week of Oct. 27, which had 22.
Seven separate medical emergencies occurred on Wednesday, Dec. 4. That night, two emergencies were reported on Campus Avenue. The first occurred at Hillside Hall where two officers arrived at the scene to assist an intoxicated man at 11:39 p.m. The second occurred next door at Barlow Hall at 11:48 p.m. Both instances required transportation to the hospital.
A third medical emergency occurred at Butterfield Hall at 11:54 p.m., also reported to be an intoxicated man. While the dispatched officer assisted the man, no transportation to the hospital was needed.
On Tuesday, Dec. 3, a car accident occurred on the corner of Butterfield and Flagg Road and was reported to be minor damage with no injuries. An unrelated medical emergency was reported shortly after, which was found to be a student that had fainted and was subsequently transported to the hospital.
On Monday, Dec. 2, a series of burglar alarms went off across campus. The first alarm occurred at 6:08 a.m. at the Memorial Union, followed closely by alarms at the Robert L. Carothers Library & Learning Commons and on West Alumni Avenue. The last alarm occurred at the Alumni Center on Upper College Road at 8:03 a.m., which was found to be a false alarm. None of the alarms warranted any police action.
