A student organization decided to stir up some controversy last Friday after setting up a voting booth in memorial union to change the university’s mascot. URI Events set up the booth and announced later that day, around 4 p.m., that the booth was a prank, and the URI ram is not going anywhere. The options of a new mascot that were put on the ballot was a rabbit, a penguin and a bird. President and founder of URI Events Sabrina Araujo, said that they thought of the prank after brainstorming ideas on how to have fun with the student body. However, students and faculty weren’t very happy about it. Araujo said apologizes and said that it was all in good fun.
