A Cigar writer’s ranking of the team members of Marvel’s Avengers from “Avengers Endgame”. Photo from calendar.syracuse.edu.
So, let me preface this ranking by saying that I have watched “Avengers: Endgame” more times than I’d like to admit. I don’t know why, but it just never gets old. Last year, my family and I watched all of the Marvel movies in chronological order, which was quite the task, but it made me love the movies even more because they make so much more sense when you watch them this way. Anyway, my love for Avengers movies inspired my ranking, so here are my picks for the top 10 Avengers characters, based solely on the Marvel Avengers movies (which was very challenging because I love them all).
10. Ant-Man
Now, Ant-Man really doesn’t get a whole lot of screen time in the Avengers movies, and my appreciation for him grew after watching the Ant-Man movies. But because this ranking is based on the Avengers movies alone, I had to put him at number 10, mostly because of his lack of screen time. I just feel like other characters had more prominent roles.
9. Hawkeye
If this was based on other Marvel movies, Hawkeye, otherwise known as Clint Barton, probably would not have made the list, but I do like him in “Avengers.” I feel for him when he loses his family because of Thanos, and I like all of the cool arrows he uses.
8. The Hulk
Okay, so I love when The Hulk is The Hulk. I like when he turns green and goes crazy. For example, in the first “Avengers” movie when he goes crazy and starts smashing everything. Those are my favorite Hulk moments and I think they are so funny. In the last couple movies, Bruce Banner is always battling the Hulk, and it’s harder for him to help the Avengers.
7. Wanda Maximoff
Wanda is such a powerful character. I really need to watch “WandaVision” because I really want to learn more about her. I just love how much power she has and I also love that she is a female powerhouse.
6. Spider-Man
Ahh Spider-Man. I absolutely love him in the Avengers movies. I love that he is so young because most of the characters are a lot older, so I feel like Spider-Man’s character is relatable to a lot of younger viewers. And when I say relatable, I mean the fact that he is a high school student, not the fact that he can shoot webs out of his wrist and swings through cities.
5: Captain America
You can’t not love Captain America; he’s the team leader, the motivational speaker, the game planner, etc. Captain America really holds the team together and keeps everyone on their toes.
4: Black Widow
Now, before watching “Avengers,” I would not have placed her fourth in my rankings. I honestly wasn’t a big fan of her leading up to the Avengers movies and I didn’t really think she brought much to the Avengers team. Boy was I wrong with that statement. Black Widow would do anything for the people she cares about, and for all of mankind for that matter. She is such a powerful female character and someone who I grew to love more and more as the Avengers movies progressed.
3: Thor
What an interesting character. First of all, he’s a god, a defender of Asgard and also protects the human world. A busy guy for sure. I love his humor in the Avengers movies, and I love when he works as a part of the team. Also, the whole relationship between him and Captain America in “Endgame” is my favorite.
2: Blank Panther
All I have to say about this one is watch the “Endgame” scene where everyone returns. When it looks like there’s no hope left, the “Blank Panther” characters are the first out of the portal. That scene gives me goosebumps every time. I also just love Blank Panther’s energy. Big fan of this character.
1: Iron Man
I feel like this needs no explanation. Iron Man saves the world. Enough said.
