Police Beat: 2/25-3/2

On Sunday, Feb. 25, a motor vehicle accident was reported on Old North Road at 2:06 p.m., which was cleared within 10 minutes. A report was filed for the incident. The remainder of the day was quiet, with no other issues ending in reports.

On Monday, Feb. 26, another motor vehicle accident was reported on Briar Lane at 12:16 p.m.. The incident was also cleared in around 10 minutes and a report was filed. An incident of larceny was also reported around 12:30 p.m. to the URI police, with a report filed shortly after.

On Tuesday, Feb. 27, suspicious activity was reported at the Carothers Library at 1:33 p.m. The activity was determined to be gone once the police had arrived and the scene was cleared by 2:45 p.m..

On Wednesday, Feb. 28, three incidents of burglary were reported, one at the library, one to the URI police and the third at the Hart House on Upper College Road. All three alarms were deemed to be false. Two reports of suspicious people were reported that same day. The first being at Weldin at 1:30 p.m., and the second at the Carothers Library at 1:50 p.m.. Both incidents were cleared within 20 minutes and reports were filed. Additionally, there was a drug offense at Peck Hall at around 2:45 p.m. where assistance was rendered and cleared by 3 p.m.. A car accident took place on Flagg Road at 9:15 p.m. that was cleared in 30 minutes. A report was filed.

On Thursday, Feb. 29, an incident of harassment was filed to the URI police station at 1:45 p.m.. The case took over two hours to resolve and ended in a report. Another car accident took place on Briar Lane at 5:42 p.m. that was cleared within 15 minutes. A report was filed for the accident.

On Friday, March 1, suspicious activity was reported at Butterfield Hall at 2:05 a.m.. A vehicle was towed and the incident was moved to the URI police station and was cleared by 3 a.m.. A burglar alarm was sounded on Plains Road at 8:15 a.m. in which the URI pump was checked and secured by 8:30 a.m. Another burglar alarm was sounded at Adams Hall at 4:10 p.m.. The building was checked and secured by 4:15 p.m.. A vehicle was towed at Green Hall after a motor vehicle stop at 11:30 p.m..

On Saturday, March 2, a fire alarm went off at Dorr Hall at 10:49 p.m.. The alarm was deemed to be false and was cleared by 11 p.m..
