Elon Musk: America’s Dogebag

There are many things I could say about Elon Musk, but for journalistic integrity and to minimize harm, I will keep my opinion light.

As we already know, Musk has developed a close relationship with President Donald Trump, becoming a senior advisor to him. Choosing an unelected billionaire to lead the Department of Government Efficiency makes no sense to me. With no experience serving in the government, how can we trust him?

In an episode of “The Daily Show,” host Jon Stewart revealed the work Musk has already done with DOGE in a segment about Trump. Around 1,000 federal workers were fired and 10% of the federal workforce was cut, which is 200,000 jobs, according to the segment. Days later, 300 workers were asked to come back to the United States Food and Drug Administration.

While watching this episode, I was very confused. Why the sudden switching from firing workers just to get them back? Musk, pick one option; you’re already hurting our country by being Trump’s bestie.

If I were at a press conference, and I was given the opportunity to ask Musk a question, I’d say: “Hey, can you come up with an actual solution that helps all citizens?” He’d probably make up some dumb answer saying he is helping. He’s not even making good decisions with our country, nor with what an ideal car should look like. While there’s controversy over Teslas, at least they look better than Cybertrucks.

Don’t even get me started on MSNBC’s article about Musk claiming Social Security is a “Ponzi scheme.” It’s like my ex-boyfriend rambling on about how migrants are taking our jobs without backing up his opinion. Give me the evidence because you don’t know the whole truth.

Musk didn’t realize Social Security was “off the table” in Trump’s words, according to the New York Times. Instead, Musk went on a three-hour-long rant about how it’s a “Ponzi scheme” on Joe Rogan’s podcast. Three hours? That’s how long I spend on homework after my last class.

First off, how do you have the time to talk about false claims, and did Rogan edit the episode? While I kept reading the article, I almost choked on my peanut butter fudge when he said artificial intelligence is going to be smarter than humans in 2029. I wish he had a better mindset because Musk has no idea what he’s saying.

To be honest, Musk is just a guy who’s thirsty for some controversy like in Eminem’s song “Guilty Conscience 2.”

Musk is such a pick-me that discourse over his actions have reached the Royal Society in the United Kingdom, according to the BBC. The society called his actions “incompatible” in their code of conduct. I’m sitting on my bed thinking: wow, he’s gone beyond the United States with his concerning behavior.

Whatever happens next with him, I’ll be the one writing about it in a future article.
