Two reports of assault were reported this week. The first instance occurred on Thursday, April 10 and was recorded as a staff incident. The offender was referred to Human Resources for intervention and sanctions. No charges were filed and there were no reported injuries.

The second assault occurred Sunday, April 13. The incident was a simple assault report at Garrahy Hall and was referred to student conduct for further review. This was an isolated incident and refused medical resources.

There was one drug offense on campus this week on Saturday after the “smell of marijuana” was reported in Wiley Hall.

There were three reports of suspicious activity this week, one on Monday, April 7 at Burnside Hall, where three male students were moving furniture from the common area to their rooms. The responding officer had the students bring a chair back to the common area and the students complied.

The other instance involved suspicions of someone hiding Easter eggs in the Memorial Union on Wednesday, April 9. The individual was referred to student conduct and “peace [was] restored.”

The last incident was reported at Garrahy Hall on Friday and was declared unfounded.

There was a suspicious person reported in the Robert L. Carothers Library. The investigation is ongoing and there is possible unwanted solicitation involved.

There were 21 medical emergencies on campus, 12 of which resulted in the victim being transported to the hospital. On Monday April 7, there was one incident where a student fainted at the Health Services office, the victim was transported to the hospital.

There were five motor vehicle accidents that occurred, one accident that happened on Tuesday April 8 was outside of URI’s jurisdiction and was passed over to the South Kingstown Police Department.
