FINAL (2/1): Duquesne University 76-61 URI
Rhode Island played its last nationally televised game of the regular season on the USA Network and fell 76-61 on the road to Duquesne on Sunday. Rhode Island entered with a three-game winning streak. The Rams were down 37-27 at the half and battled back to trail by five. FINAL (1/31): URI 61-47 Fordham University
FINAL (2/4): URI 69-61 Saint Joseph’s University
Rhode Island extended its winning streak to a program-record tying 13 games Saturday with a 61-47 win on the road over Fordham on Saturday. The Rams jumped out to a 13-4 lead after the first quarter, and closed the half on a 10-2 run to take control. Third-year Sophia Vital hit a late three-pointer, and Rhode Island finished the game from the free-throw line to extend to a 14-point win.
Rhode Island won its matchup against Saint Joseph’s 69-61 on Wednesday at the Ryan Center. The victory extended Rhode Island’s winning streak to a program-record 14 games. A defensive effort pushed the Rams to victory. Rhody did not allow a field goal for more than seven minutes in the final quarter for Rhode Island to pull away. Swim and Dive
FINAL (1/31): Stony Brook University 153-88 URI
Swim and Dive concluded its full-team portion of the season on Saturday, dropping the first meeting between the two programs. Fourth-year diver Olivia Winslow swept the diving events for Rhode Island, their only individual wins. Rhody earned a total of 16 points from the trio of Winslow, first-year Emily Whiteneck and second-year Emily Kreuscher in the three-meter dive. Women’s Tennis
FINAL (1/31): URI 5-2 Fairfield University
FINAL (2/1): URI 6-1 Sacred Heart University
Rhode Island opened its busy weekend with its first win of the season, which was on the road to Fairfield on Saturday. Rhody won four singles matches and claimed the doubles point. Four of the six singles matches went to three sets, and the Rams won three of those matches to secure the victory.
Rhode Island concluded its weekend on the road against Sacred Heart on Sunday. The Rams won five of six singles matches and took the doubles point to secure their second victory of the season. John Thomas Terrier Classic (1/31)
Rhode Island sent three athletes to compete in the John Thomas Terrier Classic at Boston University on Saturday. Third-year Nick Martin set a school record in the 3000-meter run, finishing in 7:57.63 to become the first Rhody runner to break the 8-minute mark. John Thomas Terrier Classic (1/31)
Rhode Island had eight athletes compete at Boston University in six track events on Saturday. The 4×400 meter relay team of first-year Keira Clearly, first-year Reagan Garibaldi, first-year Anna-Rose Merchant and second-year Nyah Santana finished fifth in 3:47.05.
