A-10 MBB Power Rankings: Week of 2/2

Winter is in full force, snow has fallen and men’s college basketball in the Atlantic 10 Conference is well underway.

Welcome back to the first ranking of the spring semester, voted on by the Good Five Cent Cigar Sports Staff.

Here’s how all 14 teams in the A-10 ranked as of Feb. 2:

14th Place: Loyola University Chicago Ramblers (5-17, 1-8)

Following their lone conference win over the University of Rhode Island on Dec. 31, 2025, it’s been all downhill for the Ramblers this season, losing their ninth straight game.

Since the contest with the Rams, the Ramblers have given up an average of 73.3 points per game, landing their defense last in the A-10.

13th Place: University of Richmond Spiders (13-10, 3-7)

Riding in on a five-game losing streak, it’ll take a lot of effort from the Spiders throughout the remainder of this season to prove they are not a bottom-of-the-barrel team in the A-10.

Following an eight-point loss to the top-three offense Virginia Commonwealth University, the Spiders went down in embarrassing fashion at home against Davidson College in a 79-54 score.

12th Place: La Salle University Explorers (7-15, 3-6)

It’s been an up-and-down road for the Explorers in conference play so far this season, but the most staggering statistic is scoring an average of 66.2 points per game, the worst offense in the A-10.

Despite third-year guard Rob Dockery posting 26 points and 14 rebounds, the Explorers’ latest loss to Saint Joseph’s University was a testament to their lack of offensive depth.

11th Place: St. Bonaventure University Bonnies (13-9, 2-7)

Despite having the second-least amount of conference wins, a tight 77-73 loss against the team with the second-most conference wins, George Mason University, is promising for the Bonnies.

If the Bonnies can get some more wins under their belt, this proves that they can compete with some of the top teams in the conference.

10th Place: Fordham University Rams (12-10, 3-6)

There are signs of life for the Rams, as they have earned their first two-game win streak of conference play this season after taking down George Washington University 79-65.

Clearly, the Rams have no struggles defensively, as they top the A-10 by holding opponents to an average of 65 points per game. However, as a bottom-three offense in the conference, the Rams have a hurdle to overcome if they want to keep climbing the rankings.

9th Place: George Washington University Revolutionaries (13-9, 4-5)

On the opposite end of the spectrum, the Revolutionaries have now lost their second straight game. On the bright side, they were without their fifth-year center and leading scorer, Rafael Castro.

Considering all four of their wins were against the bottom three teams in our rankings, the Revolutionaries will need more than just Castro to get through their next opponent, Saint Joseph’s University.

8th Place: Duquesne University Dukes (12-10, 4-5)

It’s been a rollercoaster of wins and losses for the Dukes since conference play began, with their biggest weakness being defense.

So, it’s a good sign that defense was what edged out their 76-61 win over URI on Sunday. Traveling to take on George Mason this weekend, the Dukes’ defense will be tested once again. Will they rise to the occasion?

7th Place: University of Rhode Island Rams (13-9, 4-5)

A 15-point loss on Sunday to the Dukes was not ideal, but let’s not ignore the three-game win streak beforehand, featuring the biggest victory of the season so far, a 74-65 win over George Mason.

Despite the recent loss, the Rams have still quadrupled their wins on the road compared to last season’s record. Has a new corner turned for the Rams? Only time will tell.

6th Place: Davidson College Wildcats (13-8, 5-4)

Following a 52-point performance against George Mason in the previous week, the Wildcats turned on their offense and posted 79 points on the Spiders on Saturday.

Using the offensive momentum, the Wildcats will battle their inconsistency with the biggest challenge of the season, taking on Saint Louis University.

5th Place: University of Dayton Flyers (14-8, 5-4)

If anyone was going to post triple digits against the Flyers, at least it was the Billikens. There’s only up from here for the Flyers, who have lost four straight after starting out conference play 5-0.

On paper, the Flyers should bounce back against the Bonnies, but their four-game losing streak featured a 67-64 loss against La Salle, so anything is possible.

4th Place: Saint Joseph’s University Hawks (14-8, 6-3)

For the sixth time in seven games, the Hawks continued their winning ways. In that stretch, they’ve scored an average of 76.7 points per game, which proves they can find ways to win on either side of the ball.

Statistically, this Hawks team may look like they’d be in the middle of the pack, but perseverance has shown otherwise.

3rd Place: Virginia Commonwealth University Rams (16-6, 7-2)

With their only two conference losses being to the two teams above them in the rankings, it’s safe to say that the Rams have earned a top-three spot in the rankings.

Coming in on a five-game heater, the Rams will take on the top defense in the conference in Fordham.

2nd Place: George Mason University Patriots (20-2, 8-1)

Was the loss to Rhode Island a couple of weeks ago a small bump in the road or a sign of something more telling? Well, tight contests with teams the Patriots should be blowing out of the water point to the latter.

Take their most recent win, for example, a 77-73 win over St. Bonaventure. To finish off on a high note, the Patriots did take down VCU on the road on Jan. 10, so talent is there. The real question is: can it be sustained?

1st Place: No.19 Saint Louis University Billikens (21-1, 9-0)

There’s no denying here; this team is the real deal. Seven 100+ point games. Last remaining undefeated team in conference play.

Except for a 79-76 win over George Washington, this Billikens team has been handily taking down conference opponents, averaging 91.4 points per game. To paint the whole picture, the second-best offense in the conference averages 84.4 points per game.
