For the second-straight week, 11 of the 14 Atlantic 10 Conference teams have shifted in our power rankings.
Each week, the Good Five Cent Cigar Sports Staff ranks every team in the A-10.
This is how our ranking shaped up as of Feb. 16:
T-13th Place: Virginia Commonwealth University Rams (8-18, 4-10) (-1)
Since VCU announced that it was firing the program’s winningest coach, Beth O’Boyle, on Feb. 2, the Rams have yet to win a game.
In three games under interim head coach Kirk Crawford, VCU has lost by double-digits and been held under 60 points in every game. The Rams’ worst loss of the season came at the hands of the University of Rhode Island on Feb. 11 in a 43-point defeat.
The schedule doesn’t get easier for VCU with matchups against Davidson College and the University of Dayton still left to play in the Rams’ final four games.
T-13th Place: Saint Louis University Billikens (11-17, 5-10) (-2)
The Billikens seem to be the complete opposite of their male counterparts, with the team currently on a seven-game losing streak as they continue to tumble down our rankings and the A-10 standings.
Despite this streak, there are some bright spots for Saint Louis. The last two losses for the Billikens have been by a combined five points, which is a massive improvement from last week, when the Billikens’ two losses were both by 30 or more points. The other bright spot is the rise of first-year Jahda Denis, who scored 23 points against Dayton on Saturday.
T-11th Place: Duquesne University Dukes (9-16, 2-12) (+3)
After losing their first 12 conference games, the Dukes pulled off back-to-back double-digit wins over Loyola University Chicago on Feb. 11 and Fordham University on Saturday.
This is the first winning streak for Duquesne since it won the first three games of the regular season back in November 2025. One of the reasons for the Dukes’ recent success is second-year guard Mackenzie Blackford, who scored a combined 40 points in their two wins this week.
T-11th Place: Fordham University Rams (10-16, 2-13) (+2)
For just the second time this season, Fordham picked up an A-10 win with a 42-39 victory over a slumping Billikens team on Feb. 11. The Rams were unable to defeat their fellow bottom-feeder in the standings, Duquesne, on Saturday.
Despite having only three games left on its schedule, Fordham still has to face URI and Davidson. It’s hard to imagine Fordham pulling off any more upsets to avoid the first round of the A-10 Tournament.
10th Place: George Washington University Revolutionaries (13-14, 5-9) (-2)
After winning three straight games and looking like they would easily avoid playing in the first round, the Revolutionaries have lost three in a row.
Their upcoming schedule doesn’t do them any favors, still having to face URI, the University of Richmond and George Mason University in its final four games. With URI and George Mason being road games, it’ll be very interesting to see how the league’s sixth-ranked defense holds up against the league’s top three offenses. If George Washington is able to pull off an upset against any of those three, it will significantly improve the team’s chances of avoiding the first round.
9th Place: St. Bonaventure University Bonnies (15-12, 6-9) (+1)
The Bonnies are winners of three of their last four games after being on a five-game losing streak prior. In what seems to be more than a coincidence, the Bonnies’ leading scorer, fifth-year Laycee Drake, has scored double-digits in three of her last four games. The only time she didn’t was when she scored nine in the Bonnies’ 75-52 loss to Richmond.
Unlike the Revolutionaries, St. Bonaventure has a very favorable schedule in its final four games. The Bonnies play three teams ranked below them in our power rankings, so don’t be surprised if you see them make a late-season push.
8th Place: La Salle University Explorers (14-11, 7-7) (+1)
After trading wins and losses over its prior six games, La Salle is on its first winning streak since the beginning of conference play. The Explorers only played one game this week, a 67-52 win over George Washington.
La Salle’s leading scorer, fourth-year Ashleigh Connor, led the team with 18 points in the game. The Explorers will need to continue to rely on her as they have to face the top two teams in URI and Richmond in back-to-back games this week.
7th Place: Loyola University Chicago Ramblers (12-13, 8-6) (-3)
The biggest fall this week belongs to Loyola Chicago after suffering consecutive double-digit losses last week, including allowing Duquesne its first conference win of the season on Feb. 11.
Last week, we praised the Ramblers for their consistent play, six-game winning streak and winning eight of their last nine. This week, their inability to produce offensively in the last two games has us wondering if the Ramblers deserve to be in conversation for double-bye contention anymore.
6th Place: University of Dayton Flyers (14-12, 7-8) (+1)
For the second consecutive week, the Flyers have moved up in our power rankings. This week’s rise is more of a result of Loyola Chicago’s fall, but moving up is still an achievement, regardless of how it happens.
The Flyers bounced back from a double-digit loss to George Mason with a nail-biting 65-63 win over Saint Louis on Saturday. Dayton has just three games left on its schedule, with a matchup against Davidson on Wednesday. We’ll see just how worthy Dayton is for a rise in next week’s rankings.
5th Place: Davidson College Wildcats (16-11, 8-6) (+1)
The Wildcats have lost four of their last five games, with their latest loss being a 65-43 defeat to Richmond on Saturday. The Wildcats continue to slip in the standings as their hold on the fourth seed and the coveted double-bye loosens with every game.
Fortunately for Davidson, like Dayton, Loyola Chicago’s rapid descent has the Wildcats gaining a spot. Out of Davidson’s remaining four games, three are against teams ranked in the bottom four in our power rankings. It would be no surprise if we see a late-season push and the Wildcats earn the double-bye while also carrying some momentum into the tournament.
4th Place: Saint Joseph’s University Hawks (17-8, 8-6) (+1)
After dropping its prior two games, St. Joe’s has won back-to-back games, including a huge road win against Loyola Chicago on Saturday.
The Hawks’ next two games–Duquesne and Saint Louis–seem to be warm-ups for the team before having to face George Mason and Richmond in their final two games. It will be a formidable test that could show the Hawks as a team to fear heading into the conference tournament.
3rd Place: George Mason University Patriots (17-8, 12-2) (-)
The Patriots had to play a rare three-game week, with a make-up game against Richmond scheduled for Monday after the original game was postponed due to the winter storm that swept through the nation in late January.
George Mason pulled off victories against Dayton on Feb. 11 and Richmond on Monday, but fell to Rhody on Saturday in a 79-63 home loss. The Patriots held Richmond to a season-low 37 points on Monday and held reigning A-10 Player of the Year, fourth-year Maggie Doogan, to a season-low seven points.
The two teams split the season series, with the home team winning both times. It’ll be interesting to see if the teams meet in the A-10 Tournament, and which team will overpower the other on a neutral site.
2nd Place: University of Richmond Spiders (22-5, 12-2) (-)
The Spiders had their 11-game win streak snapped on Monday with a 46-37 loss to George Mason. A Richmond team that ranks first in the A-10 in offense, scoring 73.7 points per game, was held to a season-low 37 points and had no double-digit scorers for the first time in a game this season.
Despite the complete shutdown we saw from Richmond’s offense, it’s reasonable to assume that this was just a one-time occurrence. Now, the question is whether the Spiders will make the necessary adjustments in time before facing off against URI on Wednesday in a game that could decide the A-10 regular season champion and the No. 1 seed in the tournament.
1st Place: RV University of Rhode Island Rams (23-2, 14-0) (-)
The Rams continue to show why they are, above and beyond, the best team in the A-10 with a 43-point win over VCU on Feb. 11 and a 16-point win against George Mason on Saturday.
The Rams are starting to get respected more and more by national media with every passing week, as they look to crack into the Associated Press Top 25 poll for the first time in the program’s history. The only question left is whether URI can get that same respect from its student section.
