Students showcase skills in saxophone performance

The University of Rhode Island’s Music Department held a Saxophone Studio Recital on Wednesday Nov. 15, which was coordinated by Jonathan Amon and William Jones. During this recital, URI saxophone students played solo and ensemble pieces of classical and jazz music.

This was the 34th event of the 2017 to 2018 season for the URI Music Department. Some of the performers include Tim Hecker (alto and baritone saxophone), Grace Guss (piano), Jake Brunelle (alto and tenor saxophone), Gayane Darakyan (piano), Andrew Hellwig (alto, baritone and soprano saxophone), Sam Terlaga (soprano saxophone), Joel Caputo (tenor saxophone), Meghan Wenz (baritone saxophone), Katie Hollowell (alto and tenor saxophone), David Rice (tenor saxophone) and Dan Cook (alto saxophone).

The URI Music Department always has events for the student body and the general public to enjoy. There are many different events popping up over the course of the next few weeks, including free Convocations every Thursday at 12:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Concert Hall, Jazz Concerts and various other events can be found online at events.uri.edu.

Tickets for non-free events can be purchased anytime before the event at ovationtix.com. In addition, tickets can be purchased at the Fine Arts Center Box Office up to one hour before the performance. All major credit cards accepted, check or cash. Tickets are $12 for the General Admission, $7 for Students and Seniors (60 and older). Children 12 and under can attend for free. Please find the time to support these young, budding musicians in the Music Department as they have so much to offer in terms of talent.
