Rhode Island Rowing wins 12th straight Resolute Cup

The Rhode Island women’s rowing Varsity 8+ boat won its 12th straight Resolute Cup, beating Boston College with a time of 7:09.211. This is the second week in a row that the V8+ boat won their race.

The Second Varsity 8 boat caught a crab and subsequently finished last in their race with a time of 7:32.170. The Varsity 4 A finished last in their race with a time of 8:34.927, and the Varsity 4 B finished second in their race with a time of 8:48.478.

Rhode Island competes next weekend in the Atlantic 10 championship Pennsauken, New Jersey. The Rams finished second at the A10 last year.

The Rams are have also started a fundraising campaign titled the Rhode to Henley to raise money for the team to travel to England in June to compete in the Henley Women’s Regatta. The Henley Women’s Regatta is one of the most prestigious rowing competitions in the world, and the team is looking to raise $35,000 in a month so that they can be able to travel and compete. So far the team has raised $10,185 in less than a week and the graduating class that raises the most money will get to name the team’s new boat.
