When Ross “Reign” Magliocco planned a show for the University of Rhode Island’s Greek Week in 2019, he never expected to take a years-long musical journey with three of his friends.

Three years and 250,000 Spotify streams later, Ross and his friends are making music and growing as artists while doing it.

Ross and his three friends became “Stone Nobles,” a young, high-energy, exciting rock band from Rhode Island.

The Nobles current lineup consists of the powerful voice of Reign, catchy riffs from Lancer Steele on guitar, solid beats from drummer Brody Silver and creative basslines from Davy Charr.

Stone Nobles officially began in 2019 following URI Greek Week.

“It kind of happened on accident,” Reign said.

The Nobles were planning on playing at Greek Week but the performance eventually fell through.

“I had to break the news so that when I was like, ‘hey, so we’re not doing this Mr. Greek Week thing anymore,’” Reign said. “And Brody was like ‘alright, do we want to keep playing?’”

The Nobles agreed to keep playing, and the rest is history.

Stone Nobles describe themselves as a rock band, spiced up with influences from different eras of rock and roll music. These different eras and inspirations give the Nobles an interesting sound, according to the band.

“We describe our music as a cake,” Silver said. “It’s like a chocolate cake with layers. The bulk of the cake is your classic 70’s rock that’s probably what you hear right away when you first hear our music. Then, the second layer would sort of be early 80’s classic metal. All the filling in between is sort of, you know, 90’s grunge and late 80’s punk rock.”

All the members have their own personal icons that they look up to such as Dave Grohl from Nirvana and Foo Fighters, along with bands such as Guns n’ Roses, Metallica and a general appreciation for the punk rock sound.

“We all just have our own little worlds of music that come together,” Ross said. “It all works out. We all generally are into a lot of the same stuff. So it works out nicely.”

The band is hopeful for their future and recognize that they’ve already come a long way from the start. The Nobles are planning on playing and creating new music for years to come.

“We’ve got a whole EP lined up where we’re making a lot of headway recording it,” Reign said. “We’ve got most of the songs recorded. I think people who have already listened to us will be very surprised to hear and I think it’s also going to draw in a different crowd of people to kind of diversify to the type of person who’s listened to our music.”

Stone Nobles’ EP is set to be released in the summer along with a few live performances in the New England area.

“Whether we’re playing live or recording, you know, it doesn’t really matter,” Silver said.  “We’re doing what we love, you know, which is music.”
