The University of Rhode Island baseball team lost two of three games in a conference series against George Washington University over the weekend. In their lone win in game two of the series, URI had an offensive explosion, scoring nine runs in the final two innings on their way to a 14-6 win.

Then, the team dropped their first midweek game on Tuesday against Bryant University by a score of 13-9 after holding a 6-0 lead through the first two innings. Softball:

The URI softball team extended their season-long winning streak to four games as they swept their senior day doubleheader against George Washington on Saturday. Second-year Kylie Bulinski went 5-5 with a home run and four runs batted in across the two games. The Rams were unable to complete the sweep in the series finale on Sunday.

After rallying for a walk-off win in game one, Rhode Island dropped the second game and split their doubleheader against the University of Massachusetts on Wednesday. For more, check out Aidan Garvey’s recap. (page 16, rhodycigar.com)

Track and Field: Holy Cross Invitational (4/20)

Men’s: First of seven

Women’s: Third of seven

The Rhody men’s track team won the Holy Cross Invitational on Saturday with 168 points for the meet, finishing 34 ahead of second-place finishers University of Maine. The Rams had five different individual winners across the events.

The women’s track team also competed at the Holy Cross Invitational and finished in third, placing behind the host school, the College of the Holy Cross, and UMass. They had top three finishes in five different events which helped lead to their 97 points. Women’s Tennis:

FINAL (4/20): UMass 4-1 URI

The women’s tennis team closed out their regular season on Saturday with a 4-1 loss to UMass. Second-year Nikki Fernando got the one point for the team by winning her match in straight sets. Women’s Rowing: Lake Morey Regatta (4/20)

The rowing team fell short in their morning session at Lake Morey as they finished behind Dartmouth College in all five events. However, they bounced back in their second session as they took down Fordham University, finishing ahead of them in all events aside from their B crew in the Varsity 4+.
