Tyler the Creator, Doja Cat, Lana Del Rey headline Coachella

Coachella, one of the biggest annual outdoor music festivals in the United States, featured Lana Del Rey, Tyler the Creator and Doja Cat as the headliners for the past two weekends.

Lana Del Rey was the headliner for the Friday dates, April 12 and 19. Tyler the Creator headlined the Saturday dates of April 12 and 20, and Doja Cat headlined the Sunday dates, April 14 and 21.

Del Rey performed 20 songs, including her hits “Summertime Sadness,” “Young and Beautiful” and “Video Games” with Billie Ellish for weekend one. For weekend two, she performed 19 songs featuring three artists: Camilla Cabello, Jon Batiste, who is a multi-instrumentalist, and Jack Antonoff. With Cabello she performed “I LUV IT,” with Batiste she sang “Candy Necklace” and with Antonoff she performed “Hope Is a Dangerous Thing for a Woman Like Me to Have – But I Have It.”

For both weekends, Tyler the Creator played 22 songs including “Earfquake,” “See You Again” and “WUSYANAME.” He also included the unreleased verse of “WUSYANAME” in both weekends. “Earfquake” was performed with singer Charlie Wilson and “See You Again” was performed with singer Kali Uchis, during the first weekend.

Doja Cat sang 21 songs including “Paint the Town Red,” “Streets” and “Wet Vagina” as the encore. Two songs that included special guests were “Shutcho” with The Joy, who are a South African acapella band, and “MASC” with Teezo Touchdown, a rapper.

Other featured artists included Ice Spice, Reneé Rapp and Sabrina Carpenter. Tyla was supposed to be in the lineup as well but quit due to a recent injury. Olivia Rodrigo also made an appearance to sing with the reunited band No Doubt on Saturday of weekend one. Rodrigo and No Doubt sang the band’s 2000’s hit “Bathwater.”

Carpenter played 12 songs including “Feather,” her new song “Espresso” and “Nonsense” with a Coachella themed outro. Louis Levanti, a social media influencer who attended, had speculations about what the outro would be.

“Came to the desert looking for a fella, maybe I’ll meet him at Coachella,” Levanti said in an Instagram post.

However, the actual outro was a bit more on the R-rated side.

Ice Spice performed on Saturday with 14 songs including three covers: “Karma” by Taylor Swift, “Boy’s a Liar” by PinkPantheress and “Barbie World” by her and Nicki Minaj featuring Aqua. Rapp performed on Sunday with 13 songs including “Not My Fault,” “Snow Angel” and “Tummy Hurts” with Coco Jones.

Coca-Cola sponsored a Coke Studio tour at Coachella, according to Levanti’s Instagram. Attendees could tour the studio, drink unlimited cokes and take photos in a glam bot booth. Coca-Cola also came out with a new flavor, spiced, which attendees tried.

“The Coke Studio is a 12 out of 10, you need to go see it,” Levanti said.

Handcrafted Afters Ice Cream held a stand at Coachella for Saturday weekend one, James Charles said in a YouTube video. The ice cream was around $15 and Charles said it was worth it.

There were other food vendors like Big B the Chef and Something Good LA, according to YouTuber Pierson. She and Brent Rivera posted a video where they tried everything on the Coachella menu. One meal Pierson and Rivera tried were churro fried oreos at Big B Chef.

“Reminds me of my younger years,” Pierson said.
