Sadie Brandt – Editor-in-Chief:

I’ve been listening to an absurd amount of music this summer, primarily because I have nothing to do except lie about and get way too invested in “Love Island USA.” As the days blend together into an amalgamation of nothingness, I’ve been blasting “Free.99” by Malcolm Todd, who has gotten me through this molasses-sludge month.

Ella Gerdts – Managing Editor:

Summer in the city means my nose has become blind to the worst scents imaginable. I have been bouncing around the states since my summer started and one of the songs that’s been on repeat in the car is “Baba O’Riley” by The Who. It’s one of those classic rock songs that never fails the ears.

Aria Garcia-Torres – News Editor:

It’s pride month. There’s no ugly pride collections at the department store anymore. It’s hot. It’s getting hotter. Time keeps passing faster. My head hurts. Anyways, I pick “Brutalist” by Kim Petras.

Eliza White – News Editor:

This summer, you can find me completing my goal of getting outside and trying new things if I’m not working a shift. Unfortunately, my attempts at rock climbing, fly-fishing and bird-watching have forced me to drive several hours a week around the state. As a native Rhode Islander, the stereotype reigns supreme. I have created my own personal hell.

So, the song of my summer is “I Drive A Lot” by Starflyer 59, and I am growing increasingly grateful for my day off, as my dreams now consist of food running ten thousand stuffies and bowls of calamari.

Carlos Pinto – Arts & Culture Editor:

When this summer started, I noticed the potential for a couple things to happen that I’ve never witnessed in my life before; and neither have you if you haven’t been alive since 1973. The New York Knicks finally ended their championship drought of 53 years. For that, the next few weeks will be powered by “New York” by Ja Rule, Fat Joe and Jadakiss.

Charlie Adams – Sports Editor:

My concert bucket list isn’t too extensive, but no doubt at the top of the list was Baby Keem. His return album after a nearly five-year hiatus, “Ca$ino,” has been in heavy rotation since its release on Feb. 20. The accompanying tour sold out its Boston date nearly instantly, enough for Keem to thankfully add a second date for June 8 and allow me to cross him off the top of my list. Keem delivered in his return, according to my initial album review, and his live performance did as well.

It took some goading to get my brother to agree to accompany me, but we couldn’t get back to our car after the show before he was talking about the feel of his first real concert and the FOMO from watching the pit in our mezzanine seats (next on his concert bucket list is Olivia Rodrigo!). Keem made the most out of the MGM Music Hall at Fenway; his stage presence and production were well worth the admission. “Birds & the Bees” was the peak of Keem’s setlist, repeating the intro time and again before the beat finally dropped. The song’s lyric of “I was duckin’ all the drama, spent the summer gettin’ thinner” is the current mentality.

Owen Desharnais – Newscast Editor:

People always seem to tell me that my music taste is all over the place, but it’s not my fault; it’s TikTok’s. With the summer upon us, the editors of TikTok have gotten to work using new songs. One song that has made its way onto my for you page and my playlist is “Earrings” by Malcolm Todd.

Mike Sormanti – Social Media Coordinator:

Hot start to the summer, but who better to cool me off than the Iceman, Drizzy “Champagne Papi” Drake. The teaser, “What Did I Miss?,” jumped to the No. 1 spot on my most-played songs in a matter of days after it dropped last July. Nonetheless, the comeback of Mr. Aubrey Graham to reclaim the throne in the rap game was long overdue, and the 10-month wait was more than worth it. While both “Iceman” and “Maid of Honour” have added numerous songs into my daily rotation, the best track of the bunch comes from “Habibti.” Whether you’re chilling at Gansett beach or going for a Drake and Drive, “High Fives” by Drake will satisfy all your summer music needs.

Nora Kelley – Web Editor:

One of my new favorite pastimes has been to watch planes in Washington, DC. I go with my boyfriend right before sunset, and we sit on the Tidal Basin and watch planes for hours in the bed of his truck. We started doing this during the winter, but it has become much more comfortable in the glow of the summer sunset. With that being said, my staff pick is “Watching Airplanes” by Gary Allen.
