Student senate report: 11/1

The Student Senate unanimously voted to recognize two unfunded student organizations last night.

The Student Senate voted to recognize a club track and field team this week. This organization wishes to provide a more competitive atmosphere than the running club. Along those lines, they also wish to train more than the running club. This club will be coed and they currently have 25 members. They will soon start to recruit more members by utilizing flyers. The team will need to use the outdoor and indoor tracks to practice and train. The Senate unanimously voted to recognize this group as an unfunded organization.

Ether(bound), a literary magazine, which prints non-fiction writing, poetry and visual art, was voted in as an unfunded student organization. They accept undergraduate, graduate and alumni submissions. The group was unanimously approved.

There was discussion about Diversity Day taking place this month. Taking into consideration that this month is Native American heritage month, the Senate plans to do an event focusing on indigenous people.

Also, the accessibility challenge will be coming up. This will consist of students going on with their normal schedule, but they will be assigned a disability. This will help bring attention to what buildings/classrooms need to be more disability accessible.
