As the spring semester begins, students have begun to settle back into the everyday routines of campus life. Here is this week’s rundown of the University of Rhode Island Police activity on campus as students return:
On Sunday, Jan. 28, police officers responded to an act of vandalism at Barlow Hall where a report was filed a little after midnight.
On Monday morning, Jan. 29, police responded to a burglary alarm at the Carothers Library, where it was deemed a false alarm and dismissed.
On Tuesday, Jan. 30, around 10 a.m., there was a car accident that took place on Flagg Road. A report was filed by police and the scene was cleared within 10 minutes upon arrival.
Around noon on Wednesday, Jan. 31, three vehicles were pulled over on Route 138 where citations were issued, the last of which taking place at 2 p.m..
On Thursday, Feb. 1, two car accidents took place in the afternoon in various locations, one at 1 p.m. and one at 2 p.m. on Plains Road. Both took about a half hour to clear. An incident of theft also took place after 6 p.m. on Briar Lane, where a report was filed and the scene was cleared within 14 minutes.
On Friday, a false fire alarm went off at Burnside Hall at 7:20 p.m., and the scene was cleared less than 10 minutes later.
On Saturday at 10 p.m., a car was pulled over and two arrests were made for underage possession of alcohol on Complex Road.
On Sunday, police arrived at Coddington Hall around 10:48 a.m. for an act of vandalism, where a report was filed after police remained on the scene for an hour. A suspicious person was also reported at 11:53 a.m. at Dorr Hall, and a report was filed for this as well. A car accident took place on Keaney Road near Boss Arena, and the scene was cleared within 40 minutes. Two fire alarms went off between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. where police responded at the scene: one at Health Services and the other at Burnside Hall.
