They Couldn’t Save the World: Can They Avenge It?

Ten years. Twenty-two movies. More than 1 billion fans all around the world. The true marvel here is how not a single soul knows anything about the biggest movie of all time: “Avengers: Endgame.” Naturally, everyone comes up with the most ridiculous predictions and theories about the movie. Though it makes perfect sense that Ant-Man can destroy Thanos by climbing into his butt, here are some of the predictions that we can mostly likely see on screen.

Theory 1: Quantum Realm Theory

Yes, sometimes it feels like most science fiction movies can get away with anything by using the word “quantum” before it. However, this one actually makes sense. From the trailer, we know that Ant-Man was one of the non-original Avengers who survived Thanos’ death snap. This probably has something to do with him being stuck in the quantum realm at the end of “Ant-Man and the Wasp.” The Quantum Realm is a place unaltered by time and space. Fans are convinced that something about that place that holds the key to destroying Thanos. All we know about this place so far is from what Janet Van Dyne (the original Wasp) said in the movie. “There’s so much we didn’t know about this place, Henry. Worlds upon worlds, an entire civilization, far more than we ever theorized,” and “Don’t get sucked into a time vortex, we won’t be able to save you.” Moreover, the suits worn by the Avengers in the “Endgame” trailer are very similar to the one worn by Dr. Dyne in “Ant-Man and the Wasp,” before she enters the realm.

Theory 2: Travelling with the Time stone

One of the most obvious theories is that the Avengers would use the Time Stone, that is currently in Thanos’ gauntlet, to go back in time and save everyone that turned to ashes. While this theory does seem possible, the question of how they would acquire it from Thanos remains a mystery, especially now that he is the most powerful being in the universe.

Theory 3: Captain Marvel saves the day

Captain Marvel is the Superman of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She might use her cosmic manipulation powers to shift the reality to bring the timeline to a point where Thanos didn’t possess the Infinity Gauntlet. At this point, the Avengers can split up and collect all of the Infinity Stones to bring back the dead and kill Thanos.

Theory 4: Where is Gamora?

In “Infinity War,” in order to retrieve the Soul Stone from the planet Vormir, you have to sacrifice something that is of great value to you, and so Thanos sacrifices Gamora, possibly leaving her not dead, but trapped in the soul stone forever. If there is a possibility that all the Infinity Stones are retrieved, then they can use the other gauntlet that was made by Eitri (portrayed by Peter Dinklage), in the planet Nidavellir, and bring back Gamora.

Theory 5: It’s Been an Honor, Captain.

In a tweet from October 2018, Chris Evans thanked everyone after wrapping up the last day on the sets of “Endgame.” He tweeted “Officially wrapped on Avengers 4. Playing this role over the last eight years has been an honor…thank you for the memories! Eternally grateful.” Fans believe that since his contract is up with Marvel and it is the end of the Avengers series, this will be the end of Captain America. This will be the most heartbreaking scenes in all of movie history, so Marvel fans, if he dies, you’re going to have to “walk it off.”

If any of these theories are actually true, then the CIA has to recruit Marvel fans immediately. “Avengers: Endgame” is coming to theatres Friday, April 26.
