In what was the final match of the regular season for the Rams, the UMass  Minutewomen swept Rhode Island, 4-0 last Thursday at the Mullins Tennis Courts.

It has been a tough last couple of months for the Rams, they fell in their fourth straight match against UMass, finishing their regular season with a record of 6-8, 1-3 in Atlantic 10 competition.

Both first and third singles were still playing when UMass sealed the win. Going into the match UMass was riding a five match win streak and a record of 16-4, 3-1 Atlantic 10 Conference competition.

At first singles Janja Kovacevic defeated Erin Chratian; 6-4, 5-2. They were unable to finish their match as it was called off due to UMass already winning four team points.

Sophomore second singles player Jodie Lawrence-Taylor took care of business of URI’s junior singles star Tiara Higuchi; 6-1, 6-2. Ruth Crawford beat Mihaela Codreanu at three singles; 6-4, 4-1. Like her teammate at second singles, Anna Napadiy took care of business against Halah Davis; 6-4. 6-1.
