Ask Abbie: Let’s talk about tarot

Howdy my handsome heartthrobs. How are we doing this lovely day? Are we feeling our seasonal affective disorder seeping out of our auras as the sun warms our bare skin for this first time in forever?

Hear me out: I have a theory that seasonal depression goes away because for us bipedal primates residing on the North American continent, as the Earth tilts more towards the sun, the sun makes us more apt to secrete perspiration. This perspiration is all of our S.A.D. sweating out of our skin and evaporating into the air, providing plants with the nutrients they need to begin blooming.

Do you ever wonder why it typically rains so much in March and April? Well, it is to bring May flowers, but it’s also because we’re sweating out our seasonal depression and turning it into something beautiful. I personally see no other explanation.

All this unsavory talk about bodily functions and bewitching talk about nature, I am feeling a tarot card reading coming on.

For those of you that are unfamiliar with tarot readings, no it is not an occult art form only available for those who wear Stevie Nicks-inspired outfits or can see people’s auras. Tarot can be seen as a tool for personal healing and insight.

Tarot cards can be viewed as being a mirror for the person having the reading being done for them, whether they are pulling the cards or another person is reading their energy and pulling cards for them, giving insight and a conversation into one’s deeper self. The rules surrounding tarot cards can also be formed by the individual, and while each of the 78 cards in the deck have a meaning assigned to them, how the individual interprets them and how the cards speak to them can change for everyone.

Tarot reading is also not as exclusive as it has been made out to be. For example, I believe that the age-old traditional saying that you must be given a tarot deck rather than buying one yourself is a fallacy and came to fruition through spiritual gatekeepers.

Overall, if you’re looking to get into tarot, I would encourage anyone and everyone to.  There is so much to learn and many more explanations online or in books that go more in depth.

While every reading can be done differently, for this one I am going to draw three cards, channeling the energy I feel from you. These three cards are a general reading and as your reader, I would like for you to interpret them as you feel they relate to your life.

The first card is Five of Cups reversed. This card suggests that you have recently been undergoing personal setback or disappointment. While you may have been keeping these feelings bottled up, it may be time to share with someone you trust. It can also mean that if you are blaming yourself for something, you should forgive yourself. You have learned the lessons from your previous experiences and are finding ways to grow from them.

The second card is Four of Wands reversed. This card represents celebrating a personal achievement or being close to achieving a goal. This achievement may establish a sense of harmony and balance, although it could also represent some upheaval and changes that may occur.

Your last card is Queen of Cups reversed. This card shows that it is time to focus inwardly on yourself and your emotional wellbeing. You may feel drained from taking care of others, but remember that you can not change people if they do not want to change themselves. It could also suggest that you are letting your heart rule over your head and to remember to establish a balance.

I hope you all are able to feel a connection from one of those cards in your life but if not maybe that just means you need to do one for yourself? Haha jk….unless?
