Police Beat: 3/3-3/17

On Tuesday, March 5, there were two burglar alarms. The first was at the Robert L. Carothers Library, and the second on Thirsty-Acre Pond Road. They were both false alarms and were quickly cleared. There was a motor vehicle accident in the Plains Road Commuter Lot at 10:20 a.m. where a report was filed and the scene was cleared by 10:45 a.m.. At Hopkins Hall, a drug offense was reported at 1:15 p.m. and the police arrived at the scene by 1:18 p.m.. A report was filed and the scene was cleared by 1:34 p.m.. There was also an issue of trespassing at Fayerweather Hall. The call came in at 3:09 p.m., and assistance was provided. The case cleared the next day at 3:15 p.m..

On Wednesday, March 6, there was a car accident on Flagg Road at 9:15 a.m.. The scene was cleared and the report was filed by 9:47 a.m.. There was another issue of trespassing at Quinn Hall at 3:15 p.m.. Multiple officers arrived at the scene and filed a report by 5:20 p.m..

On Thursday, March 7, there was an early morning drug offense at Dorr Hall that was called in at 12:06 a.m., resulting in a report being filed. The scene was cleared 16 minutes later. At the Memorial Union, a burglar alarm was called at 12:39 a.m.. The building was then checked and secured by 12:50 a.m.. Suspicious activity was reported at the president’s house at 12:40 p.m.. The scene was checked and cleared less than five minutes later.

On Friday, March 8, there was a report of suspicious activity at the Fine Arts Lot at 12:13 a.m.. There was a verbal warning issued and the scene was cleared 23 minutes later. Later that day, at 11:14 a.m. there was a car accident at Flagg Road Lot. Police arrived and the scene was cleared by 11:25 a.m.. There was an incident of harassment reported to the University of Rhode Island police station at 8:20 p.m., it took over an hour for the police to finally file a report by 9:35 p.m..

On Monday, March 11, there was another burglar alarm at the library at 9:50 p.m.. The building was checked and secured by 10:07 p.m..

On Tuesday, March 12, hazardous conditions were reported at Avedisian Hall. Police arrived at the scene at 8:15 a.m. and the scene was cleared by 8:35 a.m..

On Wednesday, March 13, there was a report of suspicious activity at the Memorial Union. The police arrived at the scene at 8:40 a.m. and cleared the scene within 45 minutes and were leaving by 9:21 a.m.. There was an incident of vandalism of a vehicle at Keaney Lot at 7:06 p.m. that was cleared by 7:50 p.m..

On Friday, March 15, there was another burglar alarm at Quinn Hall at 2:35 a.m.. Multiple police arrived to check the building that was cleared by 2:50 a.m..

On Saturday, March 16, at 12:30 p.m., at a motor vehicle stop on Briar Lane, a 66-year-old man was arrested on charges related to a bench warrant. He was taken to the Adult Correctional Facility for court proceedings.
