The 193 Coffeehouse is kicking off the semester with events, food drives and get-togethers for all students to enjoy.
The Coffeehouse is organizing events, such as a recent event called the Silent Book Club that took place on Tuesday. Sept. 22. With this event, the Coffeehouse collaborated with the English Department to create a silent reading night followed by a 45 minute discussion.
Looking to the future, the 193 Coffeehouse is planning to host an event with the line dancing club and is currently planning a stargazing party, game nights and a Halloween movie night. They’re still thinking of new events and activities for students to participate in, while also hosting more events such as band nights, karaoke, open mic nights and more.
“We are trying to give people a place to show off what’s important to them and be creative,” event coordinator Maeve Van Coughen said. “It’s so nice to see people become comfortable here.”
The 193 Coffeehouse welcomes any club or organization on campus that wants to work with them, plan an event or do a food drive. Their goal is to make everyone feel welcome and enjoy their time at the coffeehouse, whether for an event, club organization, getting coffee with friends or doing homework and studying.
“We are always looking for clubs that want to collaborate with us,” Maile Campbell, president of the coffeehouse, said. “If a club wants to post an event or something they think would be good for the community, then they can definitely reach out to us.”
To avoid a fire code violation, 193 Coffeehouse would greatly appreciate students RSVPing for events when needed. Large crowds have caused the coffeehouse to violate the fire code in the past.
Everyone is welcome at the 193 Coffeehouse; they are open 7 days a week, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. They are located on the second floor of the memorial union building all the way down the hall.
